Program DescriptionThis program provides students with the skills to work as a GIS Technician or Analyst including use of software such as ArcInfo and AutoCAD as well as technology like Mapping Grade GPS. The curriculum consists of both introductory and advanced classes with plenty of hands-on experience. Our GIS lab is state-of-the art with a full site license of ESRI software. The advanced certificate also requires the student to have completed a minimum of an associate degree prior to applying for this certificate. The GIS certificate is part of the Associate in Applied Science - Geomatics Technology Degree. The Geomatics Technology Degree is a TAC of ABET-accredited program whose courses meet the GIS course requirements for the Professional Land Surveyors License in the state of South Carolina when attached to a four-year degree acceptable to the state surveying board. |
