Variables impacting the distribution of potholes are traffic volume, amount of stop and go traffic, road speed limit, and pavement age. Use of GPS/GIS technologies can help develop a pothole repair strategy leading to a reduction in repair costs. Project results are made available to planners to assist them in establishing an efficient, cost-saving repair strategy.
