Students will learn how to bring field measurements, including GPS data into ArcGIS 10. Students will learn to create a new GIS dataset and populate the attribute table with river assessment characteristics: Dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature (some schools do F some do C), conductivity, turbidity and macroinvertebrate pollution tolerance index. Finally, using skills learned in previous lessons, students will make a final map of their field collection. There will be some discussion on data sharing.
