Description:

This activity uses ArcGIS Online, a Web-based Geographic Information System (GIS) (www.arcgis.com) as a tool for analyzing the historical temperature extremes by state in the USA from a spatial perspective. These extremes are, for example, the all time low and high temperature for Alaska, Alabama, and so on. The resulting patterns make for excellent teaching content and tools for local weather, continental climate patterns, proximity to coastlines, seasons, historical events, and much more.
