How do I find or become a GeoMentor?
Go to the GeoMentor.org site and read through the general information about the GeoMentor program.
Log in using your ESRI Global ID. (Establishing an ESRI Global ID is free and requires only an email address. If you do not log in, you can browse general information, but you cannot register or search the database.)
- Register to be a GeoMentor and set (or update) your GeoMentor Status:
- "Learning" (Stage 1) means you agree to receive periodic emails about the GeoMentor program. You will be publicly visible simply as a dot on the map.
- "Seeking" (Stage 2) means that you are interested in a partnership and agree to make some characteristics visible to people who are logged in at the "Seeking" level or higher, though they cannot directly identify you, nor directly contact you without your approval.
- "Working" (Stage 3) means that you are participating in one or more GeoMentor partnerships.
- "Reporting" (Stage 4) means that you have entered information about your activities in order to share that with others.
- Explore the GeoMentor map and database.
- If you are registered only as "Learning", you can only see dots on the map indicating the rough location of possible GeoMentors and educators seeking GeoMentors.
- If you are registered as "Seeking" or above, you can see some characteristics of individuals who are registered. You can use the GeoMentor system to contact an individual on your behalf; your email address will be included. The other individual and you can then choose whether to interact further, on your own.
- Establish contact
- GeoMentors and educators can use the system to initiate contact. After that, it is up to the partners to contact each other directly, discuss what might be accomplished, and engage in activities. When a partnership is underway, partners should change their status to "Working".
- Report!
- Share your story! Help other GeoMentors and educators learn what works. Help people see how a little community help can go a long way!
