Guidelines for Submiting Resources
   Home | Submit Your Lesson

ArcLessons welcomes your contributions. We accept instructional resources in a variety of formats, but we do ask you to observe the following guidelines:

  1. Please create an archive that includes all of the necessary files for your lesson(s), including a ReadMe, instruction sheet(s), data files, and apr or mxd files (if appropriate). If you are submitting a LessonPak consisting of multiple activities, please indicate how many separate lessons are included in your archive in the ReadMe file.
A variety of low-cost utilities are available for creating archives on both PC and Macintosh computers, such as WinZip (for PCs) or StuffIt (for Macintosh)

  2. Please include a ReadMe file in the archive that describes all the enclosed files and identifies what additional materials (if any) are needed for the lesson(s). The ReadMe file should be in plain text format and should be named "ReadMe.txt."

  3. Please indicate in the ReadMe file whether there are any restrictions on the use and/or redistribution of your instructional resources. (Note: all resources posted will be considered copyrighted by the author unless the author expressly states in the "Read Me" file that the instructional resources are being placed in the public domain.)

  4. If your instructional resources requires the use of specific data sets, please include those files with the lesson archive. If your lesson uses commonly available data (such as the data included with ArcView), please indicate what data are needed by listing the file names and a description of the contents. If your lesson(s) requires students to use data from the Internet, please include a URL and description of the needed data.

NOTICE: For security reasons, ESRI does not allow any executable (.exe) files or files without an extension to be uploaded. ArcLessons are provided on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind. ESRI does not assume responsibility for the accuracy or reliability of the lessons and recommends you test them before use.
